With the utilities industry actively pursuing plans for the digital platform transformation, the installed base of SAP industry solution SAP IS-U finds itself at a crossroads. In Berlin on January 18th, 2022, The Handelsblatt Energy Summit proved a well-timed opportunity for SAP to communicate the strategic direction. The German business software leader announced the designated successor of SAP IS-U: SAP Utilities Core, the cloud solution for all products, services, and market participants.
For some time, customers had been awaiting SAP’s response to the digital transformation in the energy sector and the growing demand for agility to adapt to the ever-changing market demands. With SAP Utilities Core, SAP presents a holistic solution to energy providers as it covers day-to-day operations, innovation capabilities, and competitiveness. The solution’s end-to-end capabilities model all energy processes on one platform – from billing to market communication, to field service, or move-in/out. By leveraging the cloud solution, established processes become more flexible and efficient. These enhancements allow a window of opportunities to open for utilities to develop new innovative business models. Moving forward, SAP IS-U users have a convincing option when considering the move to the cloud. SAP is committed to providing a road map for continued product innovation until 2040. This commitment allows organizations to improve planning and safeguard investments.
To guide the first transformation and migration projects to the Utilities Cloud, a working group named SAP Utilities Enablement Community was created. Natuvion is one of four partners working with SAP to co-develop and deliver best practices and standards in this context. Holger Strotmann, a Managing Director at Natuvion is very pleased: “Being selected as SAP Utilities Core Partner is a great testimony of trust in our vision and execution. We are very excited to take a leading, active role in creating the digital future of utilities alongside SAP.”
